Second graders grow through teamwork, outdoor exploration, and hands-on challenges that encourage independence.

New to Cub Scouts? Your child can join at this grade without earning earlier ranks.

Six adventures. Skills that grow.

Scouts earn their rank by completing these six required adventures and at least two electives. Start with Bobcat, then explore the others with your den and family.

Bobcat

Wolves learn how the Scout Oath and Law guide everyday choices. They help create their den’s code of conduct, practice the Cub Scout sign, salute, and handshake, and share examples of doing their best. A parent or guardian guides personal-safety activities at home.

Running With the Pack

Wolves try colorful foods, practice brushing their teeth, and discover different ways to stay active. Group movement, personal exercises, and a quiet relaxing activity help them understand that fitness includes both physical effort and recovery.

Safety in Numbers

Wolves learn about safe touch through the Protect Yourself Rules program, with parent or guardian permission. They practice the buddy system and review playground safety, building habits that help them look after themselves and their friends.

Footsteps

Wolves explore their family’s faith traditions through a craft or artwork and a meaningful gathering. They carry out an act of kindness and discuss the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, learning why honesty builds trust.

Council Fire

Wolves learn to care for and fold the U.S. flag and take part in a flag ceremony. They build models of homes and community buildings to create a neighborhood, then connect good-neighbor values with a hands-on service project.

Paws on the Path

Wolves prepare for a nature walk with the Six Essentials, suitable clothing, and a buddy. During at least 30 minutes outdoors, they explore local wildlife and practice the Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace habits that protect shared spaces.

Choose your next adventure

Scouts complete at least two electives and can keep exploring more of their interests.
