Curious first graders explore with friends, build confidence, and practice helping at home and in their community.

New to Cub Scouts? Your child can join at this grade without earning earlier ranks.

Six adventures. Skills that grow.

Scouts earn their rank by completing these six required adventures and at least two electives. Start with Bobcat, then explore the others with your den and family.

Bobcat

Tigers get to know their den and put being trustworthy, helpful, and friendly into practice. With their adult partner, they learn the Scout Oath, Cub Scout sign, salute, and handshake, and talk about doing their best. Personal-safety activities continue at home with a parent or guardian.

Tiger Bites

Tigers build a foundation for healthy living by exploring the five food groups and practicing good handwashing. They enjoy 30 minutes of movement and try habits that help them settle down and get a good night’s sleep.

Tiger’s Roar

Tigers learn to recognize unsafe situations and practice Shout, Run, Tell with their adult partner. They also rehearse getting emergency help and knowing what to do if they become lost or separated from their family or group.

Tiger Circles

With their family, Tigers explore faith traditions and important celebrations, then draw a favorite. They attend a service or another gathering that expresses reverence and carry out an act of kindness—connecting family values with everyday actions.

Team Tiger

Through games, Tigers learn why rules matter and what makes a good teammate. They take responsibility for a helpful job and join a service project, discovering how their own effort contributes to a team and their community.

Tigers in the Wild

Tigers pack the Cub Scout Six Essentials and explore outside for at least 20 minutes. They learn the Outdoor Code, notice natural and human-made features, identify local animals, and discover how trees help the world around them.

Scouts complete at least two electives and can keep exploring more of their interests.
